Excel Automation Services

Make the weekly spreadsheet task repeatable.

If the same exports need cleaning, combining and checking every week, the first project can focus on that one recurring workflow. We assess your files, agree the rules and build a process your team can run and review.

Share the task, your tools and the outcome you need. We scope the work before quoting.

When spreadsheet work becomes a bottleneck

A sales report may depend on several workbooks with different column names. A finance tracker may break when a new file arrives. Copying formulas can introduce errors that are hard to trace. Automation starts by making these dependencies explicit, rather than hiding them inside a larger spreadsheet.

What a first project could include

  • Consolidate agreed Excel or CSV exports into a consistent table.
  • Use Power Query or Python where it fits the environment and maintenance needs.
  • Flag missing fields, duplicate records and totals that do not reconcile.
  • Produce one repeatable report with documented refresh instructions.

ILLUSTRATIVE PROJECT

For example, combine weekly sales exports from three sources, standardize dates and product codes, identify unmatched records and refresh one agreed summary. This is an illustrative scope, not a completed customer project.

What to bring to the first conversation

  • A sanitized example of the current files and the expected output.
  • The update frequency, approximate file sizes and Excel version.
  • Rules for exceptions, ownership of the source data and who reviews the result.

Dependencies to agree up front

Macros, scheduled execution, external connections and shared workbooks each have different requirements. We assess compatibility, access and licensing before proposing a solution. An automated process still needs someone responsible for reviewing exceptions.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Before we start.

Can this work without macros?

Often, Power Query or a documented data transformation is a useful starting point. The choice depends on the files, Excel version and how the process needs to run.

Will you replace our workbook?

We first assess what is already useful. The scope may improve one workbook, separate data preparation from reporting, or produce a new output while preserving the source files.
