When reports disagree or take too long to prepare
Sales totals can differ because teams use different date rules or definitions. Operational reports may combine data at incompatible levels of detail. A first Power BI project should resolve those questions openly, so a polished visual does not conceal an inconsistent model.
What a first project could include
- Define one audience, a small set of business questions and agreed metrics.
- Prepare and model the agreed data sources with explicit transformation rules.
- Build a focused report with filters and visuals suited to those questions.
- Check calculations against source records and document refresh and handover steps.

What to bring to the first conversation

- Definitions of the metrics, users and decisions the report should support.
- Your Power BI licensing, refresh needs and any gateway or access constraints.
Dependencies to agree up front
Licensing, sharing, scheduled refresh, gateways and row-level access depend on your environment. We assess them before quoting. Ongoing data quality monitoring and support are separate responsibilities to agree in the project scope.

Can you use Excel as a data source?
Excel and CSV files can be assessed as sources. File location, consistent structure and refresh requirements determine whether they are a suitable long-term choice.
Can you fix an existing dashboard?
A review can focus on one issue such as inconsistent measures, a broken refresh or an unclear visual. We first inspect the model and agree acceptance checks.
